Stag's Leap Wine Cellars astonished the world in 1976 when their 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon outperformed some of Bordeaux's first-growth wines in a Paris tasting. It was the winery's first commercial vintage, using vines that were only three years old. The result gave Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, the embryonic Napa Valley wine region, and the whole American wine industry international exposure, putting them all on a path to global renown.
